Wireless Mobile Utility App Reviews

as bad as it gets

All the pain of connecting this app to the remote phone could possibly be worth it except that when you press the button to take the photo, the camera ignores the settings you have painstakingly set up. For example, I setup manual focus at infinity, which was completely ignored by the app. All the other issues of disconnecting, sometimes refusing to let you press the shutter release, and just about everything else mentioned, occurred with me. I did not, however, have to put the phone in airplane mode to get the connection to be established. Seriously horrific software.

Please make iPad app

Great app, was very buggy when I first got it but now seems to work flawlessly albeit a little slow sometimes. I have to give it 5 stars since this is the iPhone app but please make one for the iPad.

Terrible software design choices make this app useless

This could have been great but…. When I first got this app, I was so excited. I often travel and don’t have a computer, cables, SD Card readers etc., so I would use the app to download photos from my camera (Coolpix AW120) to my iPad and then could post them to Facebook, etc. For that purpose it worked just fine. Unfortunately I later noticed that when I got back to my computer, that the resolution on these photos had been drastically reduced. From page 97 of the manual, "If only one picture is selected, you will be prompted to choose the size at which the picture will be copied to the iOS device.” Yay, you get to pick original and you can have the full quality. BUT, “If multiple pictures are selected, a confirmation dialog will be displayed; tap Yes to download the pictures at the size selected for Image size in the Settings menu.” So if I check settings, what do I see? Only two choices, “Recommended size” (approximately 1920x1080) or VGA (640x480). No option for downloading the original. (page 101). So if you download more than one picture, you get a reduced quality version, no way around it unless I download each picture one by one (too cumbersome to be worthwhile). 2nd problem, you can’t transfer videos using the app. So for my permanent photo collection, this app is completely useless. Dear NIKON, please add an “Original Size” option to the image size settings. That would make your app 80% usable. For the next 20%, why not videos?

App stinks.

No option to select full size transfer...WTH Nikon.... I dont want your crap recommended size.... Doesnt show detail.... Pure junk... Try to go to support and get some jacked up website. I want to smash my camera on floor trying to get it to work how I want...

Nikon SHAME

I paid for my fourth Nikon camera in my lifetime - d7100 retail package. This wifi dongle cost another 30 bucks. The iPhone app is garbage--taking me 5-9 minutes per picture to upload to my iPhone 5s. What picture quality or file size is recommended?? Nikon product is hardly hitech - this is shameful, Nikon.

Doesnt seem to work

Will not download pics from camera to iPad.

Frustrating app

This app has potential, but it is way too buggy. I have a Nikon D3200 and I was hoping to use this app to transfer a few pictures from it to my iPhone and to use it as a remote control. It works OK as a remote. But it is TERRIBLE for picture transfer. I would say it crashes 9/10 times I try to use it. Sometimes I just select one picture to download, cross my fingers, say a prayer, hold my breath, and it still crashes. Very frustrating.

Add iPhone 6S

I have taken a lot of pictures on my camera that I love but I cant get them to my phone because they iPhone 6S is not yet comparable with this app. I am very disappointed in this. If I could I would give this app zero stars until its comparable with the iPhone 6S.

Needs an iPad optimized version

I use this with my iPad to get a better view of the photos Ive taken. However, its not well optimized for iPad. Make an optimized version please!!

Horrible, not updated.

Not updated for iOS 9+. Crashes on opening. F.U. Nikon. You POS.

Turn On Airplane Mode! Great after!

Turn on airplane mode then turn on wifi to connect to the device. Works perfect afterwards. I was getting upset that I could not get it to work and right before I created a bad review, I read the reviews suggesting the steps I just mentioned. Im so glad I did that. Pass it on!!

App works fine for me

I use this app on my d750. it connects fairly easy. I just looked up on YouTube to see how to connect and use it. You can see what your camera sees through your phone. I use it mainly to do long exposures in BULB mode if I wanted to do an exposure longer then 30 seconds. Ive never had an issue with the app crashing on me. The only bad thing about this app is that you can not adjust any of the camera settings after your phone connects to the camera. So make sure your shutter speed, f-stop, ISO and so on is set to where you want it to be at. I believe Canons app (if you have a canon of course) you can change the camera settings when your phone is connected. I wish Nikon wouldve stepped up and did the same for their app. Besides everything else, the app works. Saved me a few bucks. I dont need a cable remote. Its a free app! What more could you ask for.

Please fix!! So convenient but always disconnects.

This app is so convenient and useful but lately its been having issues running smoothly. Still runs like its on iOS 4! Please fix because this is a useful tool for people who have invested in the hardware to use it and we arent getting our moneys worth! Would rate 5 stars but camera keeps disconnecting when trying to transfer to phone.

Wow not good.

Whats up with this app its the worst ever. Its use less its needs assistance from the developers. It keep disconnecting and cant even download a single picture. Sad Nikon come on get this app fox please.

Disappointed

I never write reviews for apps so the fact that Im writing this one should say something about how horrible this application is. Its so slow, buggy, freezes, and rarely works to get any of my photos from my camera to my phone. Ive had the adapter for over a year and not once has there been an update for the app. I would expect someone like Nikon to take a little more pride in one of their products. Very disappointed.

Think about it

Its good but it can be better if you put full control in it it and bring video recording its will make it more professional

Dont bother with this app or the adapter!

It took at least a week of reading photo forums to figure out how to maintain a connection between my camera and wireless device. Once I did, I realized that it will only transfer low res photos. It is impossible to transfer original res via this worthless and not exactly cheap device/app!

Update app

I have had aw110, aw120 And in aw130 Nikon has done the worst they took out some cool features in the camera software for editing ..

I like this app but I hate because it doesnt work with videos

Something isnt quite right....

4/10/2016 Update: The app was working great until today. I tried to download photos from my D5300 camera to my iPhone 5 and when accessing "View Photos" from the Nikon Wireless Mobility Utility app, the camera disconnects from the phone. Im able to "Take a Photo" from the phone l, just not view and download them. Piece of crap! This is a great, simple app that has worked flawlessly for me. Have only used it to transfer photos from the camera to my phone and its worked perfectly every time. Very satisfied customer.
